Bergson’s thought, particularly that of Creative Evolution, will be our guide through a more contemporary question. Bergson devotes to insects some decisive pages, as do, quite interestingly, other key thinkers of the Twentieth Century. It is of the greatest interest the fact that Bergson frames these pages on insects within an overall questioning of tools, instruments, technologies. So we could reverse Bergson’s trajectory and ask: what can insects teach us about technology, and particularly about our contemporary technologies? The case of crowdsourcing will be taken as a paradigm of a certain shift that moves, in our terms, from a technological idea or practice of human tools, to an organological one.
