Philosophy says style in many ways. Style of writing, if the formal structure of a philosophical expression, or prose of a concept, is analysed (Antonia Soulez); style of reasoning, if epistemic practices are traversed in a model of knowledge (Ian Hacking); ontological style, if recurring structures of reality are identified, and from them is articulated a heterogeneous set of theories or a horizon of manifestation of entities (Manfred Frank). But what does it mean to investigate the way in which style constitutes a heterogenetic logos? Studying the case of Deleuzian philosophy, the distinction between stylistic and stylology will be argued. Starting from the relationship between entities and signs and between style and non-style that Deleuze articulates in Marcel Proust et les signes, the problem of a heterogenesis of expressive practices will be discussed. It will be shown how to move from a general logic to a singular logic in the constitution of a style. At this point, a stylological practice will be proposed: with Deleuzian notions of creation, composition and diagram, it will be argued that writing is not limited in a technical combination, but it triggers virtuality.
